Weekly Kaizen - week 18/2024
Welcome to this weeks Weekly Kaizen. Yesterday was Berkshire annual meeting, and the primary focus of this weeks edition. Enjoy, and let me know what your thoughts are. Cheers, and have a great week!
The Woodstock of investing:
Berkshire’s 2024 annual meeting was held yesterday. It was the first one with Warren and Greg Abel, and Warren made some interesting comments on AI scamming, and Berkshire’s capital allocation decision which will be made by Greg when he takes over from Warren as CEO.
Berkshire Energy, is one of they key pillars of Berkshire. However, their annual report seems to fly under the radar, and not get as much attention as one might expect. I started reading it a couple of years ago, and with the recent comments on relocating capital allocation away from Berkshire energy due to demising returns (impact from wildfires), it’s an even more appealing read for understanding market dynamics and the importance of disciplined capital allocation.
CNBC has an amazing page dedicated to WEB, I have share it before, however it’s worthwhile resharing.
Listen back to all annual meetings while on the go:
Not enough? Here are some books that I enjoyed reading on Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger:
The BG2 and All in Podcast
These are two podcast I listen to on a regular basis, in the Week 16 edition I shared more about BG2. I don’t agree on everything that is said (they tend to be overly biased toward Elon Musk), however that doesn’t take away that for anyone interested in Tech, Investing and startups, you can’t miss out on not listening to them.
BG2 podcast with Sunny Madra (Head of Groq cloud) AI startups
Finally "The Ben & Marc Show" featuring a16z co-founders Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz: Startup building: Challenges and opportunities
Weekly AI image prompt
AI doesn’t always get it right, the restrictions to what you can ‘prompt’ in regards to famous people make it a nice challenge. With that, here Warren and Charlie in an alternative universe:
Prompt: 70' style foto, vintage colors, two white men in their 90's, giving a speech with a box of sea's candy pindabutter britles on a table in front of them. With the Berkshire Hathaway logo at the background
btw, who wears two wedding rings?
Have a great week!
Cheers -
